The God Everyone Already Shares

Travel enough and every universal religion eventually meets another universal religion. Each has the truth. Each has sacred buildings. Each also has a bank account.

Orthodox Christianity taught me about surrender, charity, and the danger of attachment to possessions. The collection tray still arrived on schedule. Eternity apparently has operating expenses.

Then you notice the genuinely worldwide faith. A priest, an imam, a rabbi, an atheist, and two football fans who despise one another can sit down for lunch and settle the bill through the same terminal.

Money works because belief loops back on itself. I accept it because I expect you to accept it, and you accept it because the next person probably will. A bank balance is a controlled hallucination with an audit trail.

Banks are its churches. Central banks argue theology. Markets deliver judgment continuously and without waiting for Sunday. Communication is protected like a cherished baby because one broken message can move billions in the wrong direction.

This shared belief gave strangers a way to cooperate without sharing ancestry, language, taste, or an afterlife. Money translates incompatible purposes into transactions. Trade crosses boundaries that philosophy has been arguing about for thousands of years.

The score can swallow the game, of course. Once money becomes the purpose, every value starts looking suspiciously like an inconvenient cost. Still, its coordination power is difficult to overstate.

That is where AI enters the story. Capital is already routing electricity, silicon, human labor, language, and absurd infrastructure into one emerging system. No planetary council designed the soup. Prices pulled the ingredients together.

Humanity still argues about God. It already agrees on payment terms. The ledger is now buying GPUs.
