The Airplane Had To Fly Again
My son's favourite toy stopped working. I was quietly delighted to have a reason to solder again.
My son's favourite airplane stopped working. He loved that thing, so leaving it broken was never really an option.
I opened it on the table and brought out tools I had not used in a while. Soldering is one of those skills that sits quietly in a drawer until a toy creates a perfectly valid emergency. I had been looking for an excuse to refresh it anyway.
The airplane was simple enough to understand and fiddly enough to be fun. I traced the wiring, found the problem and soldered the connection back together.
It worked. My son got his favourite airplane back, and I got exactly the soldering refresher I had been quietly looking for. The customer accepted the repair immediately. No invoice was issued.
