In late 2015 I was trying to get out of depression by getting back into the world. Sailing became one of the experiments.
A boat is useful when your head is noisy. The wind changes, the deck leans and a rope needs the correct tension now. Attention finally has somewhere specific to go. The sea does not accept rescheduling.
Theory arrived attached to consequences. A term from the instructor became a movement of the boat. A badly handled line answered immediately. There was very little room for decorative understanding.
Returning to nature has always been the best medicine I know. On the water it came with homework and a fair chance of getting soaked.
