Tzoumerka In November
Waterfalls, fir trees and a mountain that kept disappearing into cloud.
Tzoumerka closed the sequence of 2017 trips near the end of November. The camera roll jumps between cliffs, waterfalls, fir trees and a mountain repeatedly erased by cloud.
The roads and paths kept finding improbable routes through the rock. Water had already found all the others.
Late autumn made the place feel properly remote. The air was cold, the forest dark and the exposed rock brighter whenever the sky opened for a few minutes.
Perfect weather would have missed half the point. The cloud gave the mountain a moving boundary and made every clear view temporary.
Tzoumerka ended that year of trips exactly right: cold, damp, huge, and worth every kilometre.
